Directions

The race is located in the Palos Forest Preserve system. Which is in the southern Chicago burbs just thirty minutes from downtown Chicago and closer for much of Chicagoland! The preserve is a few miles south of the intersection of I-55 and I-294, near the town of Willow Springs, IL. There is no exact address for the Meltdown so we suggest you click on the link below (Google Maps) to map your driving directions. Please plan to arrive no later than one hour before your race time to allow for parking, packet pickup and staging before the start of your race.

Parking Plan for 2016 Palos Meltdown
Parking for the 2016 Meltdown will be similar to 2014 and 2015.

We have a limited number of spots available within the preserve. To help up better utilize every available spot, 8 CAMBr volunteers will be working with 4 CCFPD officers to coordinate and control parking and drop off.   In the past, parking was first come first serve, this year we will be flagging everyone into parking spots in an orderly fashion.

Everyone is asked to enter Wolf Road from 95th Street (click on map below). At this point, you will be directed by police and flaggers to parking spots.  There will be a drop off area at the bottom of the Bull Frog parking lot (at the base of the Grass Hill).  There will be no parking in this area, just a drop off (think of an airport drop off).  Use this to drop off racers, spectators, coolers, chairs, etc.  You will be able to drop off, and then head back up to Wolf Road to then be flagged to your parking spot.

All parking lots not in use by flaggers will be closed off until needed.

Our overflow/final lot will be Maple Lake East.  Because of its location, the CCFPD has provided us two shuttle buses that will be running family and spectators to and from the race site.  Those with bikes are asked to ride the singletrack trails and pavement to the race site.

The Pulaski West lot will be only open to staff, sponsors and press, and a parking pass will be required. Violators will be subject to fines.

Please arrive early enough to allow for parking time before your race warm-up and or day-of registration.

Thanks and have a great race!
